UCY was established in 1989. It currently ranks in the 1st place among Cypriot Universities, 55th place among young Universities in the World University Rankings and in the range of 351-400th in the World University Rankings for 2017. UCY has a significant involvement in the implementation of research grants securing € 10,726.914,58 from the European Union in 2015 and € 5.153.576, 82 from Research Promotion Foundation of Cyprus in 2015. The European Commission has acknowledged UCY with the “HR Excellence in Research” Logo
The Power System Modelling (PSM) Laboratory operates under the auspices of the ECE department of the University of Cyprus. It has been formally established in 2013 and its primary expertise lies in the area of Electrical Control and Analysis of DC/AC Interference & Corrosion. PSM (EMI, Earthing and Corrosion) lab has gained a world-wide recognition in this area by publishing research results in top quality research journals and by providing modelling solutions and evaluation tools for a number of sound projects across the world.
