As part of WP7, SteelCor Research Infrastructure of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) commenced the first set of accelerated corrosion testing on steel-reinforced concrete specimens. Following exposure to salt spray, the specimens were subjected to direct currents in the order of few mA (values emulating real-life scenarios). Following the tests, the samples will be weighted to measure the weight loss due to corrosion and measure the polarization potentials against standard reference electrodes. These experiments aim at evaluating the effects of BIPV and BAPV leakage currents on the building infrastructure.
