Meeting at the High Voltage Laboratory of the National Technical University of Athens

On the 29th of November 2019, a meeting was held at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) between researchers of High Voltage Laboratory (HVL) and the Power Systems Modelling Laboratory (PSM Lab). HVL has an active role in WP5 of the PVrosion project. Tasks include laboratory experiments that are able to quantify the level of dc leakage anticipated from dc cables that are installed in large scale PV systems. Electrical tests on different cable types under various artificially ageing levels will be implemented in order to acquire information about the deterioration of the electrical characteristics under different conditions.

During the meeting, HVL gave a tour of the laboratory and demonstrated the equipment that will be used in the PVrosion project for ageing, deterioration and insulation resistance measurements of the PV cables. Moreover, a timeframe and experiments outline were agreed to enable accurate tests and measurements based on international standards.
