As part of WP7, SteelCor Research Infrastructure of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) and PSM Lab of the University of Cyprus commenced the second phase of experiments. These include specimens from parts found in Building Applied PV (BAPV) and Building Integrated PV (BIPV) systems.
The specimens were placed in the accelerated corrosion testing chambers, where they will be exposed to both salt spray and direct current, emulating the real operational conditions of the systems. Continuous salt-spray is a standard test method and also an industrial practice used to evaluate the corrosion resistance, while the DC simulates the leakage current from the PV system. Throughout the duration of the project, the specimens will be subjected to destructive corrosion testing at regular intervals. These experiments aim at evaluating the effects of BIPV and BAPV leakage currents on the building infrastructure. Mastercam Crack
