Soil Potential Variations at ‘Phaethon’ PV park (UCY)

The Power Systems Modelling (PSM) Lab of the University of Cyprus performed electrical tests at ‘Phaethon’ PV park (UCY). Among the tests, the team performed a pilot non-destructive test, developed by the PSM LAB for the measurement of soil potential variations (SPV) in the region of the PV Park. Since the DC leakage current is injected/absorbed from multiple points of the PV installation, SPV is expected at the region close to the PV park. To this extent, the measurement of SPV can give an indication of the DC stray current activity. The measurements demonstrate an excellent correlation with the produced power of the PV system as well as the temperature.
